Organizational Culture & Structure
Luna Youth and Sunny youth foundation is a social supported organization that provides a space where predominantly young people from traditionally low-income communities in our communities will develop and exercise their individual and collective leadership. Luna Youth and Sunny youth foundation strives to maintain a broad membership-base with a focused vision and organizing strategy.
Youth, staff and board members reflect the racial, cultural and class diversity of the hip hop community. We will practice collective decision-making and governance. Youth will have an opportunity to work on staff and serve on the Board of Directors.
Luna Youth and Sunny youth foundation will be supported by a diversified funding base allowing for adequate resources to justly compensate staff, expand programming and respond to the needs of target constituents.
Youth Leadership Development
Our approach to leadership development will combine skills training, experiential learning, direct action organizing and reflection. We will provide a base of knowledge from which young people can think critically about the history and continuing legacy of racism and injustice in their own communities and greater society.
Throughout their time with PHH, youth and young adults will learn how to manage a non-profit organization, exercise group management skills, improve their communication skills, deepen their critical thinking through the analysis of social justice issues, and expand their organizing skills.
Ultimately, young people will be able to imagine and work towards a world without oppression and racism. They will make a lifelong commitment to be a social change agent.
Community Transformation
Luna Youth and Sunny youth foundation maintains a critical mass of people concerned about the conditions facing young people in inner city's . In neighborhoods and schools throughout the world, young people understand their rights within the education and criminal justice system and are able to educate their peers, parents and community residents. By reaching out to the larger community, young people work to inspire community residents to work together and organize for improved conditions for young people.
Luna Youth and Sunny youth foundation facilitates state and provincial organizing campaigns that include young people in the development and critique of education and criminal justice policies. Luna Youth and Sunny youth foundation will maintain alliances with other youth groups and adults to shift community power and increase the capacity for participatory democracy.

Community.
Sunny youth foundation. is a place where young people can come together in a "free and open" environment. We are open and inclusive of diverse opinions and perspectives; racial, cultural, class and educational background.
Leadership Development
We view every individual, particularly youth, as agents of social change and the "seeds of a new society." We link the needs, interests and campaigns of the hip hop generation to social movements of the past. We provide innovative approaches to learning including the use of different mediums - grassroots media, popular education, arts & culture.
Growth and Development.
We are committed to self-reflection, education and growth. We welcome and encourage disagreement and critical feedback. We embrace intergenerational learning by bringing youth, young adults and veteran activists together to exchange perspectives and knowledge.
Collective Work
Luna Youth and Sunny youth foundationstaff, youth members and alumni of different ages can collaborate, make decisions and solve problems together. We are committed to collective work in which everyone's background and experiences are equally valued and built upon.
Dynamic Culture
Luna Youth and Sunny youth foundation is a place filled with activity and people with energy. We operate as a fluid, mobile organization capable of responding to environmental, social and political changes.
Social Change
We strive to create a society free of injustice, inequality and all forms of oppression. We believe providing youth and young adults with an understanding of institutional racism can strengthen one's capacity to counter unjust economic, social and political conditions.
By the People
We believe young people directly affected by the issues SYTF takes on should be the primary leadership and decision-makers within Luna Youth and Sunny youth foundation. We affirm what people already know and support them to fight their own battle and solve community problems.
